Apocaps™ Overview

Apocaps™ is the result of years of research conducted on plant-derived flavonoids.

Functional Nutriments has developed an oral product to be used in dogs called Apocaps^TM.

Apocaps^TM capsules contain a first-of-its-kind blend of super-pure, bioavailable, plant-derived active ingredients. The active ingredients in Apocaps^TM are all GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe).

Many of the active ingredients are flavonoid compounds originally obtained from plants which have been purified under standardized laboratory conditions to yield a highly potent end product.

The ingredients are blended using specialized equipment to achieve “molecular mixing.”

This mixing process yields a product which behaves like a brand-new compound. The active ingredients work together synergistically to achieve the desired effects.

Active Ingredients

Active Ingredients in Apocaps^TM include luteolin, apigenin, and curcumin.

Other supporting ingredients include silymarin, beta glucans, glutamine, arginine, selenium, magnesium, and ascorbyl palmitate.

The ingredients are blended using a patented technology.

Effects and Mechanisms

The effects of Apocaps™ can be divided into two broad categories.

Apocaps™ Induces Apoptosis in Cancer Cells

Body cells have a built-in lifespan, whereby they are genetically programmed to die at a certain point in time.  This normal, healthy process often makes way for new cells in the body. This process is called apoptosis, and is the basis for the name Apocaps™.

One of the central aberrations in cancer is that cancer cells lack this process. They attempt to live indefinitely.

The active ingredients in Apocaps^TM have been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells, in essence killing them.  Apoptosis inducement has been demonstrated both in vitro (in test tubes), and in vivo (in real living animal bodies).

Cancer cells generally are able to change and adapt during their “immortal” lifespan, so Apocaps^TM makes use of several molecular pathways to accomplish apoptosis. This multi-pronged attack creates havoc for the cancer cells in multiple ways simultaneously.

Apocaps™ Supports Normal Physiology in the Body

Malignant cancers are able to “take over” the body’s normal physiology in order to sustain their own growth.  Cancer cells:

• break down body muscle and fat for fuel
• promote high blood sugar levels for cancer cell consumption
• hijack the immune system to avoid detection by white blood cells
• send out chemical signals which produce inflammation, creating a cancer-friendly environment

The Apocaps^TM ingredient profile has been shown to directly interfere with the cancer cell’s ability to accomplish these harmful effects.

Apocaps^TM minimize the detrimental physical effects caused by the cancer and promote apoptosis in cancer cells, thus tipping the scales to successful remission.

In addition, Apocaps^TM is designed to act on pathways common to many different cancer types. Because it is effective in many types of cancer, the largest number of dogs possible can benefit from using Apocaps^TM.

Delivery from Capsule to Cells

Until very recently, the active ingredients in Apocaps^TM have been ineffective in vivo (in real bodies) due to a lack of bioavailability. In some cases the body has broken the ingredients down before they hit the bloodstream. In others, the intestinal wall has not been able to absorb the ingredients and allow them into the bloodstream. Without entering the blood stream, the agents could not reach body cells, whether they were healthy or cancerous.

Our patented process, which we refer to as a Trojan Horse, has solved this problem. The potent active ingredients are fused with an agent that actually blocks the body’s ability to break them down, allowing them to pass unharmed into the bloodstream. In this way, high blood concentration levels are achieved, and the active ingredients become bioavailable to the body cells.

On the near horizon is another patented technology that will enhance bioavailability even further.

Substances taken by mouth are most easily and rapidly delivered into the bloodstream if they can dissolve in water.  In the technology that we developed, the active ingredients are combined with a special combination of GRAS agents to make them water-soluble. We call this enhanced bioavailability our Trojan Stallion.

The safety and efficacy of Apocaps^TM has been measured in clinical trials (which are still ongoing) modeled after the National Institute of Health’s Best Case Series. Serial lab tests include CBC’s, chemistry profiles, and thyroid profiles. These tests are administered before the start of trial, at 10 days, at 31 days, and at 66 days of Apocaps^TM use. Forty dogs have been assessed to date.

The beneficial results of an Apocaps^TM protocol are remarkable, especially when contrasted with results from chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

• Apocaps^TM has induced measureable decreases in tumor size in roughly one third of patients.  Some tumors that were not reduced in size had reduced growth rates.
• Apocaps^TM also has anti-inflammatory effects during treatment. This ameliorates the dog’s discomfort and improves quality of life, a much desired outcome from an owner’s perspective.
• Apocaps^TM has also suppressed allergic signs and symptoms in dogs.

The negative side effects were negligible in comparison to those experienced in traditional canine cancer treatments. Roughly 5% of dogs have experienced digestive upset with the use of Apocaps^TM.  We have found no other adverse effects not attributable to other pre-existing diseases.
